Planet Eclipse just dropped the newest edition in their GTEK line, the GTEK-160R and it is AWESOME! With the new upgrades and standard features, this is next level in the mid range marker lineup!
Back in late 2015 I was lucky to get my hands on the first Eclipse GTEK. The first GTEK launched to universal acclaim and I can attest to its rugged reliability and true high-end shot characteristics. This performance meant it instantly appealed to a huge spectrum of players looking to experience a new Eclipse spool-valve marker at a mid-level price.
The hidden secret was the new technology in the Gamma Core drivetrain which is utilized in the GTEK. Its ability to handle super-fragile paint, combined with almost imperceptible barrel-rise, a whisper-quiet sound signature and outstanding efficiency means it was a drivetrain that could compete with any high-end marker out there in terms of on-field performance. You can see a testament to that in my barrel cam footage of last year’s edition of the GTEK on my YouTube channel
The challenge then was to place the Gamma Core technology into a chassis that it deserved, as the original GTEK was an amalgamation of aluminum and composite materials.
Cue the GTEK 160R.
The 160R takes the GTEK and pushes into the realms of a true high-end. It boasts all-metal billet-machined construction, on-board OLED graphical user interface, hose-less construction utilizing the proven AT Pipe system from the LV1.1 and the Geo3.5, stretched-out stance for an ultra-stable shooting platform with wraparound rubber fore and aft grips for comfort and control. It’s everything you need to be competitive at any level, in any format, anywhere on the planet. Not to mention the efficiency of the GTEK-160R is unparalleled as see on my Unofficial Air Efficiency Test show on my YouTube channel!
Every time Eclipse comes out with a new marker I get a first glimpse at what is coming and I take some time to run a lot of paint through them. It is very important to me to get this chance to give feedback to the guys and give you, my fans and friends, a chance to see what I think of the new marker they have just come out with! Well, this has been no different. I took the GTEK-160R for a test spin and out of the box it was AWESOME!! I won’t tell you how many shots I got, I don’t want to spoil it for you. But I will say that the new GTEK had a smooth and quiet shot. I also shot two batches of paint through it, one field grade and they other very brittle tournament grade and didn’t chop a single ball! I used a 77ci First Strike tank filled to 4000psi and the GTEK was chrono’d in at around +/-280. Again, I won’t spoil the video for you, but check it out and and let me know what you thought of it! I highly recommend getting your hands on one if you have the chance!
